The History of TWS
TWS was founded in 1949 by two welders who recognized a strong demand for skilled tradesman in their industry. With their commitment to delivering quality career education and training for the welding industry, they developed an Associate of Occupational Studies in Welding Technology degree program in November 1997. In November 2001, TWS opened a branch campus in Jacksonville, Florida to address the needs of employers and students along the Eastern sector of the United States.
Additionally, in May 2011, Tulsa Welding School in Jacksonville, Florida added an Auxiliary/Satellite facility located at 1750 Southside Boulevard in Jacksonville. In 2014 TWS opened its campus in Houston, Texas to fulfill the areas growing need for professional welder and pipefitter training. TWS’s newest campus in the Dallas Metro area opened in 2023 to fill the ever-growing skilled trades gap in the second largest Metropolitan area in the US. TWS – Dallas Metro also launched with the newest Electrical Lineworker program, which also expanded to Jacksonville in 2024. Over 75 years later, TWS has evolved into an educational institution that prepares students for welding, electro-mechanical technologies and pipefitting careers that apply to a multitude of specialties and applications.
We train our graduates for the skills, knowledge, and the workplace attitudes essential to enter the workforce. Graduates who put forth the dedication, commitment to excel, and workplace experience in their chosen profession have the potential to obtain a lasting and rewarding career.
