The United States of America’s Darkest Day
On the morning of September 11, 2001, our nation was forever changed. Four coordinated terrorist attacks were carried out against the United States, including the strikes on the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Another plane, United Flight 93, was heroically brought down in Pennsylvania after passengers intervened. Nearly 3,000 lives were lost in the attacks, marking it as one of the darkest days in American history.
Today, we pause to honor the lives lost and the countless acts of bravery shown on that day. We remember the victims, the families forever impacted, and the first responders who rushed toward danger to save others in the face of overwhelming tragedy.
Though more than two decades have passed, the memory of September 11 reminds us of resilience, unity, and the enduring spirit of those who stood strong in the face of adversity.
We will never forget.
