Tulsa Welding School (TWS) in Houston, Texas is expanding access to skilled trades training with the launch of its weekend-only Electrical Applications program. This 7-month diploma course gives students the opportunity to gain industry-relevant electrical training without needing to sacrifice their weekday jobs or responsibilities.
For many working adults, balancing a career, family, and future goals can be overwhelming. Traditional full-time training programs often operate on weekday schedules that don’t leave room for earning a living. TWS Houston’s new weekend format is designed to break down those barriers—offering a focused, achievable way to train for an essential career in the electrical field.
Practical Electrical Training Schedule That Fits Real Life
Students enrolled in the weekend program complete coursework through a hybrid format. Lectures and theory modules are delivered online, allowing students to complete readings, quizzes, and assignments on their own time during the week. Then, on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., students attend on-campus lab sessions that reinforce what they’ve learned in class.
This one-day-a-week lab format delivers hands-on experience with electrical tools and equipment in a professional-grade setting, under the guidance of industry-experienced instructors. Students can stay in their current job while training for a better one—a model that reflects TWS’s commitment to meeting students where they are.
