  • When do I need to be there? Sign in will be first come first serve when it comes to weld times. Check in will be at 7am. The first 60 contestants will weld first, next 60 will weld second, and so on. (If you are registered and paid your fee, you are guaranteed a spot to weld). Safety/rules briefing times for each flight will be 15 minutes before weld time. You must be checked in at least 15 minutes before your start time. The awards presentation will be held at 2pm, as we have 3 large groups welding and must allow ample time for scoring and compilation.
  • What do I bring? Competitors should bring the following equipment: Helmet, leathers, safety glasses. TWS will supply chipping hammer, brush, tape measure, grinders and flywheels, electrode holders & soap stone (you are welcome to bring your own equipment if you prefer). Wear appropriate welding apparel & boots.
A complimentary lunch will be served from 11:00am to 1:00pm. JUDGING/SCORING PROCEDURES: In consideration of the volume of welds being scored and the amount of time required to fully score each piece, an initial visual screening will determine the top 50, which will be pulled from each of the 3 welding groups. After that first screening, the overall top 10 (regardless of group) will be fully scored, and placed 1st through 10th. Only the top 10 welds will be assigned a specific score and placement.
