Jacksonville, Florida – April 29, 2013 – Tulsa Welding School’s branch campus in Jacksonville has been nominated for the 2013 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award. This year the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense operational committee, received 2,899 business nominations from employees nationwide. In Florida, Guard and Reserve members nominated 121 of their employers with Tulsa Welding School – Jacksonville being one of them. Of these 121 employers, TWS Jacksonville was chosen as one of the top 15 Florida employers for the last 12 months, and will also be recognized May 17th.

The Freedom Award was instituted in 1996 to recognize employers who provide exceptional support for their employees serving in the Guard and Reserve. It is the highest employer recognition award given by the U.S. Government. To be considered, a currently employed Guard or Reserve member must nominate the organization. The award recipients will be honored in Washington, D.C. later this year at the 18th annual Freedom Award Ceremony. Past award recipients had the opportunity to meet with several senior leaders of the White House and Department of Defense.

Tulsa Welding School has campuses in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Jacksonville, Florida. Programs vary by campus. TWS Jacksonville offers training in Welding, Electro-Mechanical Technologies (HVAC/R) and now Shipfitting and Steel Fabrication.
